Treatment overview
Mole Reduction with Advanced Electrolysis (also known as Short-Wave Diathermy) is a safe and effective procedure for reducing unwanted moles. A small, sterile probe emits a short-wave diathermy current, precisely targeting the mole with controlled heat. This heat causes the water molecules within the tissue to vibrate, leading to natural drying and cell disruption. The heat also seals off the blood supply, effectively removing the targeted tissue through a process similar to cauterization. Mole treatment typically requires a few sessions for the mole to become smaller, flatter, and colorless, leaving the blemish seemingly undetectable, with no scarring or excision wound.

What should I expect?

Before
A consultation is required to assess the mole and confirm its suitability for treatment. Before proceeding with mole removal, we will assess the mole using Map My Mole. This involves capturing images of the mole with a dermatoscope, which will then be reviewed by a dermatologist. Once the diagnosis is complete and the report is received, we’ll contact you to schedule your first treatment. The Map My Mole Diagnosis costs £30, in addition to the £30 consultation fee.
If you already have a GP or Dermatologist letter of consent, this step is not necessary. However, we will need proof that the letter was issued within the last 3 months.
During
The procedure typically lasts between 15-30 minutes, depending on the size and number of moles being treated.
The short-wave diathermy current is applied to the mole with a small, sterile probe. Most people experience mild discomfort, like a pinch or heat sensation.

After
After treatment, your skin may feel warm and appear slightly red, which usually settles within a few hours. The treated mole will form a small scab as it heals and gradually reduce in size. In some cases, an additional session may be recommended for the best outcome. A successful result typically leaves the mole flatter and lighter in colour, often blending seamlessly with the surrounding skin. We’ll provide you with clear aftercare instructions to support healing and minimise any risk of complications.

We require a GP letter of consent to ensure the mole is benign and safe to treat. This helps us provide the best care and ensure your health and safety. Alternatively, we can send an image of your mole to a dermatologist for assessment via Map My Mole (more information above)
No, we perform a mole reduction treatment, not an excision. The focus is on shrinking the mole or blemish gradually until it becomes barely visible, leaving no scarring or excision wound.
Most clients experience only mild discomfort, similar to a pinch or heat sensation, during the treatment.
Typically, one treatment is sufficient to remove the mole. However, for larger growths or multiple moles, we may recommend a follow-up session.
You can usually return to normal activities immediately, though we recommend avoiding sun exposure on the treated area for a few days.
