How does it work?
As the name suggests, microneedling involves the use of very fine and short needles being inserted into the skin. One thing we always reassure clients of is the experience of this treatment – the needles are only inserted surface-level deep. If you’ve seen (or even used) a dermaroller at home, the process is very similar, but use of this tool at home doesn’t penetrate the skin as deeply, meaning the collagen boosting effect is less prominent.
As the needles are inserted into the skin, your body will naturally rush to the surface to ‘heal’ itself. This helps the production of collagen, which creates the plumped up, refreshed look clients experience post-treatment.

Is microneedling painful?
Now, the sound of having needles penetrated into your skin may sound painful, but at most, you will only feel small discomfort during the treatment. As the needles are so small, they only penetrate the skin in shallow ‘wounds’ – this causes the skin to pink up, but this is also what helps to produce collagen and create fresh, luminous looking skin. Your skin may feel a little tender, but this will reduce within 24-48 hours.
Once you leave your treatment, you will notice a difference straight away, even if this is small – but this is different for everyone. At the time of your consultation, we’ll discuss the number of treatments we feel are needed to help you achieve your skin goals. Some clients will need more treatments than others to see results, others may see a huge improvement from their first session.

Although microneedling is widely used on the face, it is a skin treatment, meaning it can be used almost anywhere on the body.
